During the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of Hohoe Evangelical Presbyterian Senior High School, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made an official declaration, announcing that the laptops would come equipped with textbooks and other educational materials to be used during lessons.
Dr. Bawumia stressed that this initiative aims to equip students with the necessary tools to thrive in the global community. He highlighted the significance of investing in education as a means to propel the country forward in the right direction and cultivate future leaders.
In his address on Saturday, Dr. Bawumia stated, “The Minister for Education has also given me the assurance that this year we will commence the replacement of textbooks with laptops that contain embedded textbooks in Senior High Schools.”
This new undertaking follows the launch of the One-teacher One-laptop project on September 3, 2021, initiated by the government. The project aimed to provide SHS teachers with modern resources to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
As of December 11, 2021, the Ghana Education Service reported that 80% of the laptops designated for teachers had already been distributed. The implementation of laptops as replacements for textbooks is anticipated to be completed before the conclusion of 2023.
