Member of Parliament(MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is demanding the immediate resignation of the Directors and Board of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) following the botched hotels sale.

Having terminated the sale of our hotels after much belligerence and intransigence; they should all have their SSNIT appointments terminated. Never ever take the Ghanaian people for granted. The battle against State Capture continues, and we shall be victorious again! I am eternally grateful to all Ghanaians for the tremendous and overwhelming solidarity”, he wrote in response to SSNIT’s latest action on the matter.
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) on Friday night bowed to pressure and announced that it has terminated the process to sell some of its hotels to private investors.
In a press release dated July 12, 2024 and signed by the Board Chairperson of SSNIT Elizabeth Akua Ohene, the Board and Management have discontinued the process of selling 60% of stake in SSNIT hotels.
“The Board and Management of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) wish to inform the public that the process to divest 60% of SSNIT’s stake in the hotels has been terminated,” the press release said.
Organised Labour had declared a strike action due to SSNIT’s earlier refusal to terminate the sale of the hotels. It had demanded that SSNIT stop every plan or process to divest its stake in the hotels.
The sale of the hotels had been a matter of controversy when Member of Parliament MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa first brought it to the public domain. He had revealed that Rock City, a company belonging to the Minister of Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, had won the bid to buy the hotels, vowing to stop the sale and petitioning the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the matter.
