President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah as the Acting Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The appointment took effect on January 27, 2025, as confirmed in an official letter from the Office of the President, signed by Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., Secretary to the President.
Dapilah’s appointment complies with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 11(1) of the Economic and Organised Crime Act, 2010 (Act 804). It will remain effective pending the receipt of constitutionally mandated advice from EOCO’s governing board in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
In his new role, Dapilah will oversee EOCO’s mandate to investigate and prevent organized crime, corruption, and financial fraud in Ghana. His leadership comes at a critical time when the government is intensifying efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.
The Office of the President has formally congratulated Dapilah on his appointment and has requested his acceptance within 14 days of receiving the official communication.
Dapilah is expected to bring his expertise and dedication to strengthening EOCO’s operations and delivering on its mission to combat economic and organized crime in the country.
