Musician Mzbel has expressed deep frustration over what she describes as a lack of support from senior figures within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the party’s electoral victory.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Aluta FM, she said individuals in influential positions—people she regularly interacted with during the campaign period—now refuse to answer her calls or respond to her messages.
She explained that the situation has placed her under intense pressure, especially from graduates she worked with during the 2024 campaign whom she had assured of opportunities should the party win.
“I made promises to graduates I campaigned with in the 2024 elections. Some think that I’ve been given opportunities and I have neglected them, but that is not the case,” she said.
Mzbel, who also runs a restaurant, noted that she has been seeking catering-related contracts from the party without success. According to her, this has further complicated her efforts to support those who believed in her during the campaign.
“I run a restaurant, and so I’ve been looking for cooking jobs from the party to no avail. It is a worry because I am under immense pressure from people I promised opportunities,” she lamented.
She added that party stalwarts who were once readily accessible have now distanced themselves. “I know big people in the party who were very responsive during the campaign but now they don’t pick their calls. Those who pick too when I lay the demands bare they become very rude,” she said.
