Charlotte Osei, the former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, has been enstooled as Safohen in the Oguaa Traditional Area, Cape Coast.
The announcement was made in a Facebook post, revealing her new stool name, Safohen Nana Ama Kesson.
As Safohen of Nkum Asafo Group Number 4, Charlotte Osei takes on the role of a leader within the warrior group. Her responsibilities include leading the Nkum Asafo Group during the Fetu Oguaa Afahye Festival, set to take place in September 2024.

Charlotte Osei had hinted at her enstoolment earlier on June 5, 2024, by sharing a video of the Nkum Asafo Group singing, thereby inviting the public to the upcoming Fetu Afahye Festival. She expressed enthusiasm about the event, encouraging people to join and witness the vibrant celebrations.
“This year’s Afahye, the singing won’t be small! Join us @fetuafahye, September 1 – 7. Watch our 7 Asafo groups in awe and wonder,” she wrote.
This position places her at the helm of a traditional warrior group, where she will oversee the group’s activities, maintain discipline, and ensure their readiness for ceremonial and cultural functions.
