Kwesi Nyantakyi, former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed confidence in becoming the parliamentary candidate-elect for the Ejisu constituency in the NPP internal elections tomorrow, Saturday, April 13.

The former GFA boss noted that he has visited all the electoral areas in the constituency, indicating that the majority of delegates are ready to elect him.

Delegates in the constituency go to the polls to elect a parliamentary candidate to represent the party ahead of the April 30 by-election and, ultimately, the December 7 poll.

“I’ve gone around, I’ve been to all the 28 electoral areas and visited more than 98 percent of the delegates, and the impression I get is that the majority of the delegates are ready to elect me as their next parliamentary candidate,” he stated.

Mr. Nyantakyi believes that the delegates in the constituency have received his message, touting himself as having the interests of the constituency at heart.

“My message is one of the best,” he said, adding, “I’ve addressed very important issues that affect delegates and the constituency and I believe that on account of that, delegates will vote for me.”

Furthermore, Mr Nyantakyi affirmed that his chances in the April 13 elections are looking “very, very bright.”

“If it were a general election, I didn’t need to campaign because I think that my name alone, the name identity, prevails throughout everybody here, including the old and the young, men and women; everybody has heard about me,” he added.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has set Tuesday, April 30, to hold the Ejisu constituency by-election.

The Ejisu seat became vacant following the demise of the MP for the area and deputy finance minister, the late John Ampotuah Kumah, on March 7 after a brief illness.

So far, all nine aspirants who picked and filed their nomination forms have been cleared to contest in Saturday’s [April 13] elections.
