Lawyer Godwin Edudzi Tameklo has given a swift response to what he refers to as Prof. Gyampo’s attempt to extricate Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia from taking responsibility for the current economic challenges of the country.
His response comes after Prof. Gyampo wrote on his Facebook page that “part of our problem is the rift between the Veep who heads our EMT in theory, and the Cousin of the President who sidelines the Veep and uses only his knowledge in investment banking to poorly manage the economy.”
According to Lawyer Edudzi Tameklo, Dr. Bawumia is the chairman of the Economic Mismanagement Team and has oversight responsibility for the sound management of the economy.
He added that “if by reason of their policy choices, they went borrowing without thinking of the future repercussions, it lies foul in the mouth of anyone to attempt this dubious suggestion that there is a rift between Bawumia and Ken Ofori Atta.”

Good morning, Prof Gyampo. I have read your failed attempt at extricating Dr BAWUMIA from taking responsibility for the current economic mess in the country.
Prof Gyampo, remember that Dr BAWUMIA is the chair of the Economic Mismanagement Team and has oversight responsibility for the sound management of the economy.

Prof Gyampo, do you love Dr BAWUMIA more than Ken Ofori Atta. Everything BAWUMIA should be credited to Ken Ofori Atta.
If you read Dr Arthur Kennedy’s book, Chasing the Elephant into the Bush, the politics of complacency, he narrates how Ken Ofori Atta started this BAWUMIA experiment.
He narrates how at the time, Ken Ofori Atta brought BAWUMIA into the running mate conversation, BAWUMIA didn’t even have NPP membership card. He was not even an NPP member until Ken Ofori Atta brought him.
To the extent that at the NPP Steering Committee meeting at Alisa Hotel, it has to take the intervention President Kuffour to calm tempers down.
Eventually, people saw the wisdom in the proposal by Ken Ofori Atta and agreed to give Dr BAWUMIA, a waiver, because the NPP Constitution required that a running mate should have 5yrs membership.
This subtle attempt to create an impression that there is a rift between the two of them is mischievous and contrived PR to absolve BAWUMIA from the failed and collapsed economy.
Prof Gyampo, stop it.
Dr BAWUMIA is the chairman of the EMT and as such has ultimate responsibility for the collapsed economy.
