In a brief and audacious act of daylight armed robbery on Wednesday afternoon, an incident lasting no more than two minutes unfolded in Adabraka Official Town, Accra. The occurrence took place between Nobles Spot and the well-known Aponkye Spot within the locality.
Witnesses to the event found themselves frozen in place, incapacitated to intervene as the assailants brandished a black pistol. Strangely, even reporting the incident to the police was neglected by these onlookers.
The unfortunate victim of the robbery was left to assess his losses without assistance. He departed from the scene shortly after the two robbers – both mounted on a black motorcycle – sped away with their loot, consisting of a significant sum of money wrapped in a plastic bag.
Evidence suggests that the perpetrators had surreptitiously trailed the victim from the point where he acquired the money. Their attack was executed as he reached the Brewery Loop on Official Street.
According to several witnesses who spoke to Graphic Online, the incident unfolded around 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
Eyewitnesses recounted that upon stopping the victim, the robbers demanded the money, coercing him to unveil the bag’s contents.
The Chronology of Events:
Within a span of less than two minutes, the daylight robbery concluded, the perpetrators escaping with a substantial amount of cash on a black motorcycle they employed for the operation. Meanwhile, the victim was riding a red motorcycle.
The incident occurred on the Brewery Loop, an avenue connecting Official Street at Adabraka Official Town.
The accounts shared with Graphic Online by eyewitnesses detail how the two culprits, concealed beneath helmets and clad in black jackets, intersected paths with the victim using their black motorcycle from the opposite direction on the loop. Using their vehicle to obstruct the victim’s path, they succeeded in compelling him to halt. One of the riders seated at the back then revealed a black handgun, aiming it at the victim.
The victim was instructed to empty a backpack he was carrying, which was promptly obeyed. The contents, comprising a substantial sum of money enveloped in a plastic bag, were confiscated by the robbers. Further scrutiny of the bag unearthed an additional GH¢400, composed of two separate GH¢200 notes, which was also seized before the robbers made a swift getaway.
The audacity of the incident left witnesses shaken and too apprehensive to intervene.
After a brief wait following the ordeal, the victim left the scene.
