‘When we get power, we will show them where power lies’ – Dafeamekpor

Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi

Kindly share
Member of Parliament representing the South Dayi constituency, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor has accused the Education Minister of planning to paint basic schools in Ghana with NPP colours.

He Minister in Charge of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum has announced a move by the government to paint new public schools with blue and white colour.

According to him, the aim is to enhance the visual appeal of the newly constructed public school buildings.

However, in response to this initiative, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor voiced his concerns, suggesting that the selected colors indicate a preference for the hues associated with the NPP party.

Dafeamekpor remarked on TV3, stating, “The Minister of Education says he wants to paint school buildings in NPP colours. That is NPP colours. He just has to add the red to it and that is it. They will now say every roof of every school in Ghana should be red and that is it. They want to name, reclassify, and put everything in their emblem.”

He expressed disbelief at the decision, particularly in light of the government’s struggles to provide essential resources such as furniture and infrastructure to support education. He found it perplexing that funds would be allocated to changing the colors of public schools.

In contrast, the Ministry clarified the intention behind the color changes and uniform adjustments for public schools. Kwasi Kwarteng, the Ministry’s Spokesperson, explained that the objective is to paint newly constructed schools with fresh colors and introduce variety in uniforms for Basic Schools.

Kwarteng emphasized that there are no plans to repaint existing schools, contrary to speculation.
