Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings will be given a final farewell today, November 28, 2025, as Ghana holds a state funeral in her honour at Black Star Square.
She died on October 23, 2025, at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital after a short illness. Her passing marked the end of a long public life in which she played a prominent role as a former First Lady and advocate for social development.
The state ceremony is expected to bring together leading figures from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), prominent personalities from across the political landscape, and traditional leaders from communities she supported throughout her decades of public engagement.
According to her family, the event at Black Star Square will serve as the only funeral observance. They have invited all who were touched by her work to join in paying their last respects.
On Wednesday, November 26, a Requiem Mass was held at the Accra Ridge Church, offering prayers and reflections on her contributions to the nation and setting the tone for today’s final rites.
