The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has sent a message to the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, on the approval of the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.
This comes after the Minister of Finance stated that government will find a way to win the cooperation of the Minority on the matter of the Electronic Transaction Levy, also known as E-Levy.
In an interview with JoyNews on the sidelines of the ongoing Volta Fair, monitored by InsiderGH.com, the Finance Minister noted that Ghana cannot continue to do things the same way.
Reacting to his comments on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, during Parliament’s debate on the 2022 Budget, the North Tongu Lawmaker sent a clear, loud and unambiguous message to the Finance Minister .
According to him, the NDC caucus in Parliament is not available to be convinced by the Finance Minister to support government’s draconian taxes.
He further stressed that, as MPs, they were sent to Parliament by the Ghanaian people and not the Finance Minister for him to be making statements that they will find a way to get the Minority to endorse the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.
