A huge crowd, believed to be a section of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Volta Region of Ghana has embarked on demonstration to protest against President Akufo Addo’s renomination of Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa as Regional Minister.

Dr. Letsa served as the Volta Regional Minister in the first term of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, but public opinion in the region suggest that his performance did not meet the expectations of the people in the region and must not be renominated.

Speaking to some of the demonstrators, they alleged that Dr. Letsa doesn’t have the interest of the party and the development of its members at heart and must not be given another four years in office as Regional Minister.

They also accused the Minister-designate of dividing the members of the party in the region instead of uniting them. According to the demonstrators, NABCO personnel, who are supposed to be working in government agencies on temporary basis, have been redirected to the private companies and hotel of the regional minister while they (NABCO) personnel still draw allowances from government’s coffers.

They also claimed that, notable party fanatics and grassroots alike have walked the office of the regional minister for consideration to work at similar places but to no avail.

In a Facebook post by Elikem Sewordor, one of the Communicators of the party in the region, ample evidence available to them proved that materials and logistics like tricycles, sewing machines, hair dryers etc, meant for campaign have found their way into Dr. Letsa’s Shopping Mall and Hotel.
