A 24-year-old unemployed young man, Justice Ezekiel, has been jailed for 14 year for stealing cassava and plantain worth fifty Ghana cedis (¢50.00).
The Tepa Circuit Court, presided over by Judge Gwendolyn Millicent Owusu, sentenced him to serve as deterrent to other offenders.
The suspect was found guilty by the court after he pleaded guilty to stealing food from a farm at Akwasiase, a farming community near Tepa in the Ahafo Ano Tano North District of the Ahafo region.
On September 5, 2021, Ezekiel, who is an ex-convict, went to harvest the plantain and cassava he was jailed for.
According Police Chief Inspector Jonas Newlove Agyei, Ezekiel was packing the cassava and plantain he went to steal into a sack before being caught by the farm owner.
