Outspoken morning show host of TV3, Johnnie Hughes on Monday morning launched serious criticisms against president Akufo-Addo and his goverment for failing to alleviate the high cost of living in the country.

The vociferous journalist observed that contrary to what Ghanaians have been made to believe, prices of food items have seen astronomical increments in recent times, leading to untold hardship among the citizens.

The enthusiastic broadcaster asserted that there is a huge gap between goverment communications and the real economic situation in the country.

He asserted that the president is surrounded by too many sycophants who continue to misinform him about the living conditions of the people.

According to him, the increasing cost of basic items like maize does not support the assertion that the planting for food and jobs flagship program for example has led to abundance of agricultural outputs.

“Basic economic tells us that when supply exceeds demand, the price decreases. So how is it that we are net exporter of maize yet a bag of maize is GHS500 and above.

“I am telling you this morning that a ball of kenkey that I used to buy at GHS1.00 is now GHS2.00. Some are even selling it GHS3.00. So please stop the praise that all of you try to give yourselves”.

Whilst in opposition, Mr Akufo-Addo and party communicators lambasted the Mahama goverment on several occasions over the perceived high cost of living in the country at the time.

Prior to the 2016 presidential election, Mr Akufo-Addo serving as the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party promised to ameliorate the sufferings of citizenry when given the mandate to serve as the president of the nation.

The Akufo-Addo goverment has therefore come under serious criticisms as the cost of living continue to rise amid fuel price hikes.
