The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has clashed with MP for Effutu constituency and Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin on Eyewithness News over President Akufo-Addo’s £15,000 per hour trip on a luxury jet.

In an interview with Citi FM’s Umaru Sanda, Mr. Afenyo-Markin revealed that the initial questions filed by Hon. Ablakwa, who is a Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committe of Parliament, were not admitted by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

In the interview, Mr. Afenyo-Markin revealed that stated that the questions filed by the North Tongu Lawmaker were rejected, and he (Ablakwa) was required to resubmit his questions.

Surprisingly, Hon. Ablakwa called in on the show to set the records straight.

According to the North Tongu Lawmaker, the two questions he filed were admotted by Speaker Bagbin and were all advertised too as well.

According to Hon. Ablakwa, “the impression given by the Deputy Majority Group Leader that my initial question was rejected is a figment of his imagination. To speak as if other questions were filed which has been rejected by the speaker is to peddle falsehood. I don’t expect the Deputy leader to engage in that”.

He went further to state that, “we know that there was uproar in this country two years ago when it emerged rather too late in the day that GHS69 million was the cost of presidential travels and Parliament was caught unware or we were probably sleeping on the job. This time, we want to be up and doing. Some of us do not want to get to that situation again.”
