The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has informed the Kaneshie District Court that the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu, is currently not in the country.

This revelation was made on Monday, November 8, 2021, when the case involving Sosu and the Republic was called.

According to Mr. Abdul Razak, the Madina Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, “the court made it clear to the lawyers that they received a letter from the speaker of parliament that the honorable member of Parliament is on parliamentary duty outside the country.”

The Kaneshie District Court in Accra has therefore adjourned the case to November 16 2021.

This comes few days after the Ghana Police Service have filed criminal summons against the NDC MP.

He has been charged for unlawfully blocking a public road and the destruction of public property after he joined his constituents of Ayi-Mensah, Danfa and the Otinibi stretch of the La Nkwantanang -Madina Municipality in a demonstration over poor roads in the area on October 25, 2021.
