The Parliament of Ghana is set to vote on the controversial 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy today, November 26, 2021.
The Minority side of Parliament have already declared that they will do everything within their power to reject the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy because of the hardship they believe the budget will impose on Ghanaians when approved.
Despite this, the Majority Caucus have stated that they will match the NDC MPs boot for boot, laying the door for even more drama at the final voting today.
The budget debate, which began on November 23, was marked by drama and heated arguments on both sides of the political divide.
Haruna Iddrisu, the Minority Leader, and Frank Annoh Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip, have already drawn battle lines ahead of today’s budget debate.
The 2022 budget has generated a lot of controversies among Ghanaians right from the day it was presented by the Finance Minister in Parliament.
However, the fate of Ghanaians as to whether they will pay the controversial 1.75% E-levy and the other economic proposals in the 2022 Budget will be decided today as the leadership of Parliament concludes debate on the budget today.
