Former President John Dramani Mahama has been named by African Union to represent them at Somalia according to DW Africa’s report and Ghanaians have reacted massively to news of his nomination.

In a statement, the Chairperson of the AU Moussa Faki Mahamat, indicated that as the High Representative for Somalia’s political track, Former President “Mahama will work with the Somali stakeholders, to reach a mutually acceptable compromise towards an all-encompassing resolution for the holding of Somali elections in the shortest time possible.”

“In fulfilling his mandate, the High Representative will be supported by AMISOM, to ensure that the mediation efforts and the peace support operation work together seamlessly.”

According to reports tension in Somalia has heightened in recent weeks, following a resolution to extend the term of incumbent president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed by two years and some people are not ready to fall for that.

Former president, John Dramani Mahama has been known for how he ruled his nation, Ghana and bring peace amongst his people and his country men still praises him for that.

After losing 2016 election, former President John Dramani Mahama was seen across the African continent helping Africa Union to bring peace in some African countries where there is high tension leading to elections.
