It has been revealed that the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku, wept uncontrollably after the heated World Cup qualifications match between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Bafana Bafanas of South at Cape Coast on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

This was revealed by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Kofi Asare Brako, popularly known as Abatay, who was with the GFA President throughout the match.

According to him, Mr. Okraku gave the Black Stars a standing ovation when the players were moving from the pitch to the dressing room.

According to him, the Sports Minister has been doing this in every Ghana game at the Cape Coast stadium — always beckoning on everyone at the VIP Lounge to rise up and give the Stars a standing ovation before the last player leaves the pitch, raising both hands in the air and clapping for them.

He noted that when all the players finally left the pitch, the Minister for Youth and Sports held the GFA President with both hands to his chest, hugged him emotionally, causing him to cry uncontrollably.

He also revealed that later at the VIP Lounge, the Chief of Staff of the GFA also cried uncontrollablylike a child.

The Black Stars of Ghana had a 1-0 victory over the Bafana Bafanas of South Africa at Cape Coast to book a place in the Playoffs of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

It is believed that the uncontrollable tears of joy was because of how Ghanaians would have descended on the team and the FA for failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup at Qatar.
