There is a total blackout currently in some parts of the country. Some places including Lapaz, Abeka, Sowutum, Kasoa, Cape Coast, Tema, Kwashieman, Odorkor, Awoshie and other parts of the nation are currently without light.
On Wednesday March 3, 2021, there were power outages in so many parts of the country due to the closure of an emergency valve at the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo). The closure of the valve led to a cut off of gas supply to some generating plants in the country, resulting in the outages some parts of the nation experienced.
At exactly 2:10 on Sunday, March 7, 2021, four days after that incident, another major blackout, which seemed nationwide, took the country by surprise.
Our close sources at GRIDco revealed that Sunday’s outage was caused by a challenge in the power system which led to a total system shutdown.
