The Minister for Finance, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta has failed to appear before Parliament to answer questions on the recent expensive trips President Akufo-Addo made to France, Belgium and South Africa.

The Minister for Finance was summoned to answer questions filed by Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the actual cost of President Akufo-Addo’s luxurious trip.

However, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, who was scheduled to appear before Parliament on Thursday, June 17, 2021, failed to appear to give account on the actual amount of money that was spent on the infamous trip.

He [Ken Ofori-Atta] therefore asked for more time to get ready for his appearance before Parliament.

Reacting to this, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed his disappointment over the fact that the Minister for Finance was not ready to come and give Ghanaians an account of a trip that has already been paid for.

According to Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta was given two weeks to prepare for questioning on the President’s trip.

The North Tongu lawmaker went ahead to question why the Finance Minister would be asking for more time to prepare for his appearance before Parliament when all the necessary payments for the trip were already made.
