Mfantseman Member of Parliament (MP), Ophelia Hayford has revealed the “special ritual” of her husband, the late Ekow Quansah Hayford, who was shot dead by unknown criminals in the run-up to the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
According to her, fasting on Thursdays, was a sacred custom her husband didn’t joke about while he was alive.
“I have been able to fit into his shoes but one thing I haven’t been able to do is his special fasting on Thursday,” she stated.
Mr. Hayford was shot in the early hours of October 9, 2020, while returning from a campaign trip on the Abeadze Dominase – Abeadze Duadzi – Mankessim Road by suspected highway robbers.
He was brought to Saltpond Municipal Hospital’s emergency room, where he was confirmed dead, according to reports.
Until his untimely death, he was the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfantseman Constituency in the 2020 election.
Madam Hayford confessed her husband fasted the day of his death while speaking about him on Adom TV’s Badwam show a year after his murder.
She stated that the circumstances surrounding her husband’s death had left her with a significant question for God if she ever finds herself in heaven.
“My husband told me he was coming home and I was sure about that but in order to clear my mind when I meet God, I will ask Him about the ‘home’ my husband was referring to. Was it our home at Kasoa or home in heaven?” she questioned.
