Executive Director for Pressure group, Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has expressed his disappointment in mainstream media over their hypocrisy on the wild allegations levelled against President Akufo-Addo by his alleged sidechick, Serwah Broni.

Serwah Broni, who is a Canada-based alleged sidechick of Ghana’s President came out recently to spill out several top secrets about her relationship with the President, which has generated a lot of reactions on social media.

Despite the fact the the issues has taken the number one spot on internet trends in the country since it was broken, a lot of major media houses have not really taken any interest in the story, talk less of covering it for their followers.

Reacting to the issue of hypocrisy on the side of mainstream media, Mensah Thompson stated that “while mainstream media is pretending that they haven’t heard Oga’s recklessness and criminality like an elderly person who has fluctuated in public… May I remind them that there were times when leaked audios we’re played on air for days and jokes made out of it on air and the severity of the issues in question were none serious as compared to the instant issue.”

According to him, the mainstream media has in the past dedicated a lot of time to play leaked audios for several days on air, and even discussed them extensively though the issues such audios were related to are not as serious as Serwah Broni’s story.

According to him, there is no need to be worried about the acute hypocrisy and selective patronage of the Ghanaian media.

He noted that social media alone is enough for issues like this whenever mainstream media abandons them.

He noted that it could be the case that the mainstream media are too embarrassed about their role in hounding President Akufo-Addo around around the neck of Ghanaians.

“Whatever it is they cannot have even a nickel of my sympathy,” he stated.
