Information reaching confirms that Mr. Collins Offiman Takyi, the Municipal Chief Executive of Tano South in the Ahafo Region of Ghana has awarded scholarships worth ¢22,735.00 meant for brilliant but needy students to himself, wife and two kids.

According to our sources in the Tano South Municipality, the MCE gave himself GH¢9,000 worth of scholarship; his wife, Joyce Offinam Takyi, GH¢6,000 worth of scholarship; his elder daughter, Emmanuela Akyaa Takyi, GH¢5,936 worth of scholarship and his younger kid, Maame Yaa Baffour Takyi, GH¢1,799 worth of scholarship for their respective courses of study.

Interestingly, the MCE [Mr. Collins Offiman Takyi] himself was a panel member of those who interviewed applicants for the scholarships and as such, interviewed his wife and two kids.

Hon. Offinam Takyi was also a member of the team that reviewed the scholarship applications.

According to reports, the MCE managed to use his position to give himself, wife and kids high marks during the review process.

Some New Patriotic Party members in the Tano South Municipality have expressed concerns over why the MCE would hijack scholarship opportunities meant for brilliant but needy party members and students within the municipality to himself and his family.

They [party members] have therefore called on President Akufo-Addo not to appoint Mr. Offinam Takyi as their MCE for the second time.
