The Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. James Gunu has observed that, the recent “do or die” comment by former President John Dramani Mahama has resonated with the party’s grassroots and the suffering Ghanaians.
Mr. Gunu made the observation in an interview with InsiderGH.com‘s Volta Regional correspondent at Sokpoe in the South Tongu Constituency of the volta region.
The Regional Secretary joined the MP for the area Hon. Kobby Mensah Woyome and the South Tongu Constituency Executives for a thank you tour and town hall meeting.
During the short interview, Mr. Gunu noted that election as one of the main pillars of democracies is a serious business because we vote in a day but live with the consequences of the elections for four years.
Former President John Dramani Mahama, who was also on a thank you tour of the Bono region recently made a statement that the 2024 elections shall be a “do or die affairs at the polling station”.
The Former President’s comment has generated a lot of reactions on social media, with many people arguing both for and against his choice of words in that particular statement.
According to Mr. Gunu, Former President Mahama’s “do or die” comment has engendered support from the grassroot of the NDC and the suffering Ghanaian masses.
Mr. Gunu also questioned how people who did not see anything wrong with President Akufo-Addo’s “all die be die” comment have managed to find something wrong with President Mahama’s mere statement.
He further questioned how people are quick to condemn Former President Mahama over his harmless statement and have failed to condemn the manner in which President Akufo-Addo deployed the military to kill more than nine innocent Ghanaians during the 2020 election.
