Former deputy Minister of Youth and Sports under the erstwhile NDC administration, Joseph Yamin, has revealed that Former President John Dramani Mahama will lead the National Democratic Congress(NDC) into the 2024 General Elections.
According to him, any other interested candidate can contest as independent candidates.
His comments was in reaction to Dr Kwabena Duffour’s announcement that he intends to run for President of Ghana on the ticket of the NDC in order to assist combat the country’s unemployment crisis.
In a post via his official Facebook page, Mr. Yamin stated that “NDC flagbearer 2024 is John Mahama. Any other interested candidate can contest as an independent candidate period.”
Though the NDC is yet to open nominations for interested members who want to lead the party to officially make their intentions known, some people already declared their intentions and are busily lacing their boots for the race ahead.
Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and Former Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu, have already made it clear that when the party opens nomination, they will pick forms in their attempt to lead the party in the 2024 elections.
Meanwhile, some political analysts in their submissions on various platforms monitored by InsiderGH.com believe that Former President John Dramani Mahama is the NDC’s best best in the 2024 Elections.
According to them, the over one million increase in the vote the Former President got in the 2020 election as compared to what he got in 2016 is a clear indication of the fact that majority of Ghanaians want him back to continue the works he started.
Former President Mahama during his Thank You Tour noted that nobody should prevent other candidates from contesting him in the NDC’s Presidential primaries.
