Host of Joy FM’s Saturday current affairs programme Newsfile, has insisted that the Akufo-Addo administration did not end the perennial power outages popularly called dumsor experienced in the past.

Samson Lardy Anyenini argues the about four years power challenges the country faced under former President John Mahama was resolved before the New Patriotic Party (NPP) assumed office in 2017.

On his programme yesterday Saturday April 03, 2021, the lawyer told Director of Communications for the NPP Yaw Buaben Asamoa, the current government did not end dumsor and that the debate should be move forward.

On his side, Mr Buaben Asamoa, who is the immediate past Member of Parliament (MP) for Adentan Constituency, did not take Samson’s views lightly.

He argued forcefully that it is rather their interventions that has stabilized the system until recently. He tried explaining some of the things the government has done before the current power crises.

According to Samson, the NPP “came to meet excess power. Excess power simply means we didn’t have dumsor when you took over. You took over and you were unhappy. You have gotten all of us to understand that we were saddled with power we did not need.”
