The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta has eaten a humble pie by finally calling for meeting with the Minority Side of the House over the Controversial Electronic Transactions Levy (E-levy).

According to a letter from the Ministry of Finance sighted by, the aforementioned meeting was scheduled for today, January 27, 2022 at exactly 9:00 am.

Although the venue for the meeting was not stated in the letter, it is believed that Parliament is the most likeliest place for such a meeting.

According to the letter, “the meeting will discuss, among others, developments around the E-levy and the way forward.”

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin will on Saturday, January 29, leave the country to Dubai for a medical checkup which is likely to keep him there for at least two weeks.

The Speaker’s absence is believed to be a factor that will cripple the ruling New Patriotic Party by reducing their numbers in Parliament since one of the two Deputy Speaker’s must preside over the House in the absence of the Speaker.
