Justice Yonny Kulendi, a member of the panel of judges who have for the past months been hearing the 2020 Election Petition has expressed what they expect from Ghanaians after tomorrow’s final ruling.
For the past two months, the country has witnessed legal arguments from the lawyer of the Petioner, John Dramani, tje Lawyers of the EC and that of the Lawyers of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Supreme Court will in less than 24 hours pass it’s final ruling on the 2020 Election Petition.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Judicial Service, Justice Yonny Kulendi expressed the uneasiness of the Judges about what he regarded as attacks from some sections of the media on some of their rulings.
He also urged the general public and the media to be circumspect in their comments about the Judges, their rulings and the Judiciary.
According to him, “when the Judges speak, irrespective of our preferences, our likes and dislikes, and by the rules of engagement, the referee blows the whistle and the lots fall where they fall… Let’s be constructive and proactive.”
“His Lordship has said I should tell you that as trustees of the People’s power of justice, we are willing and happy to be criticized. Criticize us as violently as you can but don’t insult us,” he noted.
The apex court of the nation will give it’s final verdict of the 2020 Election Petition.
