Manchester United have officially sacked their coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after their match against Watford.

The club’s board convened after Saturday afternoon’s dismal 4-1 defeat at Watford, one of the worst displays of the Norwegian’s tenure.

The consensus was that the nature of the performance was unacceptable. Michael Carrick will now take charge of the Champions League game against Villarreal on Tuesday.

We understand that during Saturday’s meeting after their defeat, conversations were held over which of Solskjaer’s staff would remain at the club if he were to be sacked.

There were also discussions over the payout Solskjaer will receive for his dismissal, with those details still yet to be finalised.
