A member of the National Democratic Congress in the Akatsi South Constituency of the Volta Region, Edmond Kofi Gunu has expressed his views on the way forward for the party after the much anticipated final ruling of the 2020 Election Petition hearing.
The Supreme Court of Ghana has given its final verdict on the 2020 Election Petition, affirming an Akufo-Addo win in the 7th December 2020 election, throwing out the petioner’s request for a conduct of another election on the basis that no candidate was able to get the 50+1% that the 1992 Constitution requires.
According to Kofi Gunu, the ruling, though not good for the party, must not lead to a situation where members of the party would start playing blame games and pointing fingers.
Reacting to the ruling via a Tweet, Kofi Gunu noted that “it is our collective responsibility to hold the grassroot of the NDC strong and bring back the party to power in 2024. This is obviously not the time for blame games. It’s time to rebuild, Comrades!”
