A Former Member of Parliament for Kunbungu Constituency in the Northern Region, Hon. Ras Mubarak, has expressed his displeasure with the ongoing controversial sim card re-registration exercise.
Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM in an interview monitored by InsiderGH.com, Ras Mubarak stated that the reasons provided by the stakeholders for the re-registration exercise is not convincing enough.
He also made it clear that he has used his MTN sim card for 24 years and would not re-register his sim card.
“I have used my MTN phone number for nearly 24years. I would not Re-register my SIM card,” he stated.
According to him, “the process is cumbersome, the argument for Re-registration is not compelling. If my network provider blocks my number, not only will I be happy to use the good old landline, I’ll organize a boycott campaign against the service provider,” he further stated.
In a Facebook post, the Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority stressed that there is no single law in Ghana that requires Ghanaian mobile network subscribers to re-register their sim cards.
He believes that any attempt to impose the re-registration exercise on subscribers or block their lines would amount to an infringement of their property rights.
