The Flagbearer and Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has indicated his disagreement of the process of the trial and the ruling of the court.

Speaking at a media briefing after the final verdict was given by the apex court earlier today, John Mahama indicated that he “disagree with the suggestions of our Justices that an Election Petition is akin to any other civil litigation and therefore an EC Chairperson, whose functions go to the heart of our democracy can by a legal sleep of tongue avoid accounting for her stewardship in an appropriate forum such as the highest court of the land.”

According to him, his legal team, led by the learned Tsatsu Tsikata has made a valid case which was very clear and did not in any way out anyone in doubt about the issues that were at stake.

He went ahead to state that, even though he is legally bound by the decision of the Supreme Court, he disagrees “with the process of the trial and the ruling of the court.”

He also expressed his disagreement over a suggestion made by the Supreme Court Justices during the course of the 2020 Election Petition hearing.
