It has emerged that the Minister of Youths and Sports who is also the Member of Parliament for Yagaba Kubori Constituency, Hon. Mustapha Ussif was rushed to the Parliamentary clinic after his face was slashed with a sharp object believed to be a razor blade during last night’s fight in Parliament.

As reported earlier by InsiderGH.com, an infamous fight erupted in Parliament last night during voting on whether the controversial Electronic Transactions Levy(E-levy) should be considered by the House under a certificate of urgency.

During the voting process, the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu who was presiding over the House vacated the chair of the Speaker for the Second Deputy Speaker to take over proceedings so he[Joe Wise] could vote, leading to the MPs from both sides of the House exchanging blows.

In the process, the Sports Minister, who was seen in the middle of the chaos, was reported to have sustained a wound on his face, making it necessary for him to be rushed to the Parliamentary Clinic for treatment.

According to First Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Hon. Iddrisu Habib, the Sports Minister bled profusely from a wound on the forehead. He added that looking at the wound, it is believed that a sharp razor blade was used to slash the Sports Minister’s face.

A review of the footage from Parliament by this portal shows that during last night’s fight, two heavy slaps landed on the face of the Sports Minister.

However, it is not clear if the wound was caused by those two heavy slaps.

Meanwhile, the First Deputy Majority Chief Whip has argued on Angel FM in Kumasi this morning that the degree of the injury rules out the possibility that the wound was caused by mere slaps.
