A group calling itself the Gonjaland Youths for Peace and Development has urged Former President John Dramani Mahama, the leader and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress to concede defeat and seak redress in court if possible.

The group has embarked on a health walk in order to use the opportunity to get the attention of the Former President and urge him to concede defeat for peace to continue to reign in the country.

“We are having this walk today to call on our brother, our uncle, our grandfather, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama that Ghana is at peace and that he should not disturb the peace that we currently enjoy in Ghana,” one of the members of the group remarked.

According to the group, since the NDC is led by John Dramani Mahama, a Gonja man, when his actions end up destroying the peace Ghanaians enjoy, the name of Gonjaland will be tarnished.

According to the group, the violent nature of things that has characterized the aftermath of the 2020 election is not good for the stability and development of the country and therefore Former President John Dramani Mahama should concede defeat or go to the law court if he has enough evidence to prove his case.

The group went ahead to urge Former President Mahama to trust the Supreme Court because he has been a beneficiary of the court’s ruling in 2012 during the Electoral Petition hearing.

This comes after a series of demonstrations that followed the aftermath of the declaration of the Presidential results. The NDC believes that they have been cheated and are taking a lot of measures to get justice. Currently, political tension is high in the country as everybody awaits the next move of the National Democratic Congress.

Their leader and Flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama has refused to concede defeat after the final results was declared.
