Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a bigwig of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is a nephew of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has revealed his position on the controversial anti-LGBTQI Bill.

Gabby took to popular social media platform, Twitter, to disclose his position on the controversial bill.

According to him, he stands strong against the bill and will not shy away from saying it.

“I am against the anti-gay bill & not shy to say so,” he wrote.

“I am a proud Ghanaian who cherishes all that is good about our value systems, including tolerance. And, I will defend the right of minorities everywhere. I have the courage and a sense of justice to disagree with the majority,” he further stated.

The Bill continues to enjoys cross-party support, with Ghana’s parliamentary speaker, Alban Bagbin openly backing the proposed law.

It is widely expected that the bill will win enough votes to become law in Ghana, a deeply religious society where homophobic persecution is widespread.

The bill also has strong support among Ghanaians.
