Residents of Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have strongly resisted attempts by the Police to arrest their Member of Parliament, Hon Francis Xavier Sosu, for leading a demonstration.
The Madina MP was nearly arrested after he finished addressing protesters at Ayi Mensah on Monday October 25, 2021.
The demonstration which started around 6:00 was against the numerous bad roads in the Madina Constituency, and to further appeal to government to urgently come to their aid.
In the latter stages of the demonstration, protesters started burning car tyres and the mounting of roadblocks on the Ayi Mensah-Danfa road, leading to a reinforcement from the Police Service.
However, Hon. Sosu was nearly arrested by the police after stressing on the fact that the power of the people far outweighs that of the people in power.
The police attempted to arrest the MP after his speech but were met with fierce resistance from residents, who made it known that they are ready to fight back if the police try touching their MP.
