The Member of Parliament for Wa West in the Upper West Region of Ghana, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu says that children born in some European nations like Norway come into the world rich while their counterparts in Ghana are born into huge debts.
According to him, the leadership of the country has failed to put in place proactive measures to ensure a better future for generations yet to be born.
Mr. Toobu made these comments in reaction to the recent increase in reported cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, ritual murders and many others, coupled with the high level of insecurity in the country.
“I have a challenge with leadership in the country, I have challenge with leadership in Africa; because we are shallow in the sense that we are not progressively thinking about the next 10 to 20 years. All we do is try to impoverish the future,” he stated.
“A child who is born today in Norway is a rich child. He’s been born into riches. But a child that is born in Ghana is born into a huge national debt. And if you’re giving birth to children into debt, what is the future of the child?” he questioned.
