President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Ernest Arthur has been confirmed on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

He managed to get 45 out of the 63 votes that were casted. Mr. Arthur only needed 42 votes to be confirmed as Mayor for Cape Coast, a position he has occupied since 2017.

As reported earlier by, the assembly members of Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly have rejected Mr. Arthur on two different occasions.

At the first voting, he had 34 out of the 65 votes cast and even though he had been able to gain six additional votes, he needed an extra four to sail through.

During the second voting on Wednesday night (October 6), he failed again to secure the two thirds majority endorsement.

He got 40 out of the 65 total valid votes cast, representing 61.5 per cent.

He needed an additional four votes to gain the two thirds majority.

After been rejected twice for several reasons, Mr. Ernest Arthur has finally been confirmed as the Mayor for Cape Coast.

The voting took place at the Center for National Culture, Cape Coast.
