The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has through their special taskforce cut power supply to the Tema Oil Refinery over their failure to pay their electricity bills.
According to the leader of the task force, Tema Oil Refinery currently owes ECG about ¢27 million cedis, making it necessary for them to be disconnected.
According to ECG, all their efforts to get the officials at TOR to pay their bills have proven futile, leaving them with the only option available – which is to disconnect them.
ECG has however made it known that they will consider TOR and reconnect them if they pay at least 30% of their total debt.
According sources, officials at TOR have agreed to pay the debt in instalments of ¢500,000 monthly beginning this month, and are willing to increase the amount once TOR’s operations improve by June 2022.
