Residents of Kpando, in the Volta region, are still talking about the unexpected earth tremor that struck the area in the morning of Monday, October 11, 2021.

Although no life has been lost due to the natural occurrence, the tremor destroyed a wall near the Alavanyo station in the Kpando market.

Many claim that they only found out what had happened when friends and relatives began phoning to inquire about their well-being.

“The Maame Komfo’s wall that collapsed could have led to the death of many if the tremor had occurred on a market day as many people usually sit behind the wall” a resident said.

“I was in the room when I head the noise and then the house shook. It was like the passing of a very heavy vehicle” another resident recounted.

As far as the residents can recall, this is the first time something like this has occurred in the region.
