Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, a former Minister for Communications and former Spokesperson to the President of the Republic of Ghana under the erstwhile Mahama administration, has given hints about the most likeliest person to become John Mahama’s Running Mate for the 2024 elections.
According to him, the competition in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Running Mate slot for the 2024 Elections will be very keen but as things stand now, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang stands taller.
He believes that Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the 2020 Running Mate of the party will be appointed again to pair Former President John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Former Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Edward Korbly Doe Adjaho, Former Finance Minister, Kwesi Botchway, Kwame Awuah Darko, the former boss of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), Kwasi Ahwoi, a former Agric and Interior Minister, Former Chief of Staff and a confidant of John Mahama, Mr. Julius Debrah have all been tipped for the same slot.
In July 2020, the Presidential Candidate of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, appointed Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate for the 2020 elections.
According to Mr. Mahama in a Facebook post he made in the run-up to the 2020 elections, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s appointment as his running mate was unanimously endorsed by the National Executive Committee of NDC.
By her appointment on July 6, 2020, she became the first female running mate of the two major political parties in Ghana.
Her selection was applauded by women groups and women activists as a promising sign to the Ghanaian political scene to promote gender balance and equality.
