An Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of the Centre for European Studies of the University of Ghana, Prof Ransford Gyampo, has questioned whether the National Peace Council, Cristian Council and Civil Society Organizations still exist in the country.
His comment is believed to be in reaction to the recent drama that has characterized Parliamentary proceedings because of the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, and the silence of the aforementioned organizations despite the roles they have to play.
He recounted how the former moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey used to cry under previous governments that “, to wit, where are the wise men?
He lamented on the silence of the former moderator of the Presbyterian church of Ghana on the recent developments in the country.
He also questioned the sudden silence of the National Peace Council, Christian Council and the various Civil Dociety Organizations on the worrying trend in Ghana’s socio-political spheres.
“Do we still have National Peace Council? Is the Christian Council there? Why are CSOs quiet? What is accounting for the low testicular fortitude of eminent men?Rev Prof Martey’s cry which he has stopped, is still relevant “Enyansa fo eeeeiii, mo wo hi?” he quizzed.
Professor Gyampo believes that the National Peace Council, Christian Council and the CSOs must get on top of issues like they did under previous administrations.
