The Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi has reacted to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s Lecture on the steps taken by government to digitalize the economy.
In the evening of yesterday, November 2, 2021, Dr. Bawumia was at Ashesi University, where he delivered a public lecture on how the government is transforming the Ghanaian economy through digitization.
Reacting to his lecture, Sammy Gyamfi stated that digitalization is useless, unless it is linked to the economic empowerment of Ghanaians.
According to him, the ordinary Ghanaian, most of whom are jobless, cannot even afford to buy mobile data to access these digital platforms.
“Of what use is E-Pharmacy to the ordinary Ghanaian who is reeling under excruciating economic hardships as a result of the introduction of excessive taxes and steep increases in fuel prices by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government? he quizzed.
According to him, digitalization is a good thing because it helps people to do things effectively with ease.
The National Communication Officer noted that the NDC/Mahama administration has a superior record when it comes to digitalization.
He stressed that “Ghana’s economy is currently in tatters due to the crass economic mismanagement of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.”
“Our ever-rising Public Debt has reached an alarmingly unsustainable level. The rate of unemployment is on the rise and cost of living has become unbearable for the vast majority of Ghanaians,” he stated.
According to him, the answer to the aforementioned problems doesn’t lie in the organization of lectures on digitalization.
He went further to urge Dr. Bawumia to sit up, stop peddling falsehood and fix the broken Ghanaian economy.
According to him, fixing the broken economy is what Ghanaians expect from him as Head of the Economic Management Team of government.
