Hon. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) believes that this afternoon’s car accident involving the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Hon. Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor was a failed assassination attempt.

This comes after the South Dayi lawmaker got involved in a near-fatal accident on his return from the funeral of Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s father.

According the MP for Ashaiman, Hon. Ernest Norgbey, who was part of the team returning from the funeral of the father of the MP for North Tongu, they were on their way to Accra when a KIA truck loaded with blocks managed to cross the convoy.

He indicated that Hon Dafeamekpor’s car somersaulted twice with the four wheels up. According to the MP for Ashaiman’s account, they all had to quickly rush him [Hon. Dafeamekpor] out of the car.

Considering the manner in which the accident occurred, the Volta Regional Secretariat of the NDC believes that it was a planned assassination attempt on Hon. Dafeamekpor’s life.

In a short interview with InsiderGH.com, Hon. James Gunu, who revealed that he spoke with the MP for South Dayi after the unfortunate accident, indicated that from the narration given him by Mr. Dafeamekpor, it looks like the accident was a failed assassination attempt.

“When my Regional Chairman called to inform me about the accident, I quickly called the Hon. MP for South Dayi whom had left me at Battor Aveyime few hours ago and from how he narrated the story that he was crossed by a truck, for me it looks like a failed assassination attempt,” he stated.

Mr. Gunu also indicated that “when I spoke to the Hon. MP after the accident he indicated that, he has been to the hospital for a check up and he is fine.”

The respected Regional Secretary went ahead to call for a swift police investigations into the accident.
