A convoy of Members of Parliament stopped a highway robbery attack on the Sampa-Mankraso route in the early hours of Thursday, November 25.
Using the cover of darkness, the bandits held several commuters and travelers hostage and looted them.
The thieves used a variety of weapons to hold their victims at gunpoint and terrorize them until their operation was cut short by an oncoming headlight.
On their trip to Sampa-Mankraso, a convoy of three V8 trucks carrying three Members of Parliament shone brightly.
Samuel Nartey George, MP for Ningo-Prampram; Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, MP for Ho West; and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi, were on their way to an official engagement when they came upon the robbery.
The sound of their cars’ engines was insufficient to deter the criminals, who opened fire on the MPs.
Sensing danger, the politicians’ security detail also opened fire.
Sensing the superior firepower from the opposite end, the robbers left the crime scene through the woodland cover.
Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George took to social media to thank God for protecting him and his colleagues, and to request that the police be given all the resources they need to combat armed robbery, especially as Christmas approaches.
