Journalist Nana Ama Agyemang Asante, in reaction to Caleb Kudah’s issue with national security, has claimed that it is standard practice for media owners to betray their journalists in order to protect their businesses, asserting that the betrayal of journalists so as to protect media houses has nothing to do with political affiliations of the owners, but is done solely in the interest of the media businesses.

According to her, journalists in mainstream journalism know the potential of betrayal by their own media houses and therefore do their best possible to steer clear of situations in which they could be betrayed.

Her comment comes following the much criticised handling of the arrest and detention of journalist Caleb Kudah by his media house. Management of Citi TV and Citi FM has been criticised for seemingly betraying Mr Kudah who got arrested by National Security Operatives for filming within the premises of the National Security Ministry.

The management has been especially slammed for stressing that Mr Kudah was not on assignment at the Ministry when he was arrested and detained.

For Ms Agyemang Asante, betrayal is not new.
