A Senior Lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Prof Ransford Gyampo has reacted to the recent press conference of Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission(EC) in charge of Corporate Services, Dr Bossman Asare.
According to Prof Gyampo, the position that Bossman Asare occupies is one that is humbling and must evoke sobriety in public utterances.
The Political Science Lecturer believes that the response given by the EC Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services to the claims of Former President John Dramani Mahama on some election malpractices that took place during the 2020 elections projected him like somebody who was talking to Ghanaians as if they are students in a lecture hall.
He noted that during the era of Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, his position humbles him to the extent that he becomes sober even when he was pushed, pressured and provoked.
Professor Gyampo stressed that “the future of electoral reforms in Ghana will remain bleak if the Electoral Commission mounts a platform to only shower praises on itself and to pretend as if nothing went wrong in the just ended election.”

Dr Bossman Asare at a press conference Monday, October 25, 2021, challenged John Mahama to provide evidence of the EC’s impartiality asserting that the 2020 Elections was about the best Election executed by the EC.
“We refute his scoring. The good people of Ghana who experienced our processes are the best judges. Their testimonies on social media demonstrated that Ghanaians were highly satisfied,” he stressed.
