The Asogli Youths are cautioning the National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Frederick Worsemao Armah Blay popularly known as Freddie Blay that he remains persona non grata in Asogli and therefore risk stepping foot on their land this Sunday.
This follows the circulation of news items in the media that they [Asogli Youths] have described as blasphemous attempts by the Volta Regional Secretariat of the NPP and Ho Central constituency to host Mr Freddie Blay as special guest at a sod cutting ceremony for a proposed NPP regional party office complex in Ho on Sunday 4th July 2021.
It will be recalled that in 2018, Mr Freddie Blay in his infamous “Palm Wine Tapper” comment, insulted the Agbogbomefia Togbe Afede XIV, then chairman of the National House of Chiefs.
His derogatory comments were widely condemned by many well meaning Ghanaians with some describing it as”UNCULTURED”
According to the youths, attempts by the NPP in the region to host the man who insulted their ruler, Togbe Afede XIV, are further insults and uttermost disrespect to their traditional authorities and the people of Volta.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2nd July 2021
MR. FREDDIE BLAY RISKS SETTING FOOT ON ASOGLI LAND.
The Asogli Youth want to remind the National Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Frederick Worsemao Armah Blay in plain language that he remains persona non grata in Asogli and therefore risk stepping foot on our land this Sunday
This follows disgusting items circulating in the media that can best be described as blasphemous attempts by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP),Volta and Ho Central constituency to host the party’s national chairman Mr Freddie Blay as special guest at a sod cutting ceremony for a proposed NPP regional party office complex in Ho on Sunday 4th July 2021.
It will be recalled how Mr Freddie Blay in his infamous”Palm Wine Tapper” insults on the Agbogbomefia Togbe Afede XIV, then chairman of the National House of Chiefs in 2018. Which derogatory comments were widely condemned by many well meaning Ghanaians with some describing it as”UNCULTURED”
Then came Chiefs of Asogli Traditional Council , Asogli State Council and Asogli Youth groups calling and demanding of the former first deputy speaker of Ghana’s parliament to retract and apologize for his unsavory comments against the Agbogbomefia to no avail. Following from that Mr Blay was declared as persona non grata in the Volta region and Asogli when he blatantly refused to heed to the words of wisdom.
The Asogli Youth see attempts by the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Volta region and Ho Central constituency to play host to Mr Blay on Asogli soil as further insults and uttermost disrespect to the traditional authority and people of Volta. An action which has the potential of breaching peace and security of the area.
We therefore wish to caution both the host party(ies) and their guest and all persons associated with the organization of this unholy venture that the region will be too small to contain all of us if they dare go ahead with their intended plan of bringing Mr Freddie Blay unto Asogli soil.
Though we are fully aware of the ongoing state sponsored blood shed of innocent Ghanaians allegedly by security forces in various parts of the country, we cannot be intimidated and shall not hesitate to defend the dignity of the land our forefathers laid down their lives for.
“We do not have weapons and ammunition but we shall live to sing dirges to our adversaries”
We also call on the Volta regional Minister and head of Regional Security Council (RSeC) Dr Yao Archibald Letsa, security experts and all peace loving Ghanaians to as matter of urgency advice the NPP against setting confusion into the region with their treachery. Let it this be a reminder that we are peace loving people nonetheless we shall not allow anybody to take our posturing for granted.
