Kojo Bonsu, a Former Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has revealed his plans to join Former President John Dramani Mahama and Dr. Kwabena Duffuor in the Flagbearership race of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, his face on the Presidential ticket of the NDC in the 2024 Presidential Elections will ensure that the party gets at least 35% of the total votes that will be casted in the next election in the Ashanti Region.
He stated that if NDC gets 35% of Ashanti votes, it will mean a clear victory for the party since their surely going to win massively in the other regions.
Mr. Bonsu, who is a native of the Ashanti Region believes that his candidature will end the long rhetoric of Ashanti Region been regarded as the stronghold for the ruling New Patriotic Party.
He noted that the NDC needs new faces with fresh and dynamic leadership skills to win back power from the NPP.
The former Kumasi Mayor declared his intention on Monday, October 18, 2021, in an exclusive interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, which was closely monitored by InsiderGH.com.
“Mahama is now an old face so I don’t support his decision to lead the NDC. We need a new candidate who can appeal to voters, especially in Ashanti region,” he stated.
“The people in Ashanti region love me because they know what I can do. If the NDC gets just 15 percent more of the votes in the region with my help, in addition to the 20 to 25 percent it has been getting in previous elections, we can win the 2024 elections,” Mr. Bonsu explained.
